Wingspan 26-33mm.
This is a local species, with a range from southern England up to the Midlands.
It is found mainly in woodlands on chalky soils and can be found in flight during August to April - overwintering in dense cover. The adult moth has a particularly distinctive attenuated resting posture.
The larval foodplant is Spindle (Euonymus europeaus).
