Udea olivalis

([Denis & Schiffermüller], 1775)

Wingspan 24-28 mm.

Mostly greyish-brown on the upperwing with a distinctively-shaped central white spot, and one or two other whitish markings, this is a fairly easily recognised species.

In common with several other members of the Udea genus, the adult flies in June and July, and the caterpillars feed on a variety of herbaceous plants.

It is fairly common over most of Britain in woodland, gardens and waste ground.
