Udea decrepitalis

(Herrich-Schäffer, 1848)

Wingspan c. 25mm.

A rare and local species, believed to be restricted to the Scottish Highlands, although one was recorded in South Wales in 1978.

It occupies damp localities, where the foodplants, especially narrow Buckler-fern (Dryopteris carthusiana), occur.

Flying from May to July, it is mainly a diurnal species, resting on ferns or hiding amongst them.
