Pretty Pinion Perizoma blandiata

Wingspan c. 19-23 mm.

A mostly northern species, occurring in the northern half of Scotland, and locally in parts of Cumbria. It also occurs in south-west Ireland and there are scattered occurrences elsewhere. It occurs in moorland and other open habitats.

The foodplant is eyebright (Euphrasia officinalis), the caterpillars feeding on the flowers and seeds duing August and September.

The adult moths fly in late afternoon during June and July, but also come to light after dusk.
