Nyctegretis lineana

(Scopoli, 1786)

Wingspan 17-19 mm.

A scarce and local species, occupying shingle beaches and coastal sandhills in the south and south-east of England.

Flying in July and August, the adult moths can sometimes be attracted to light.

The larvae feed on restharrow (Ononis spp.), and sometimes clover (Trifolium), living in silken tubes beneath the foodplant.
