Rosy Footman Miltochrista miniata

Wingspan 23-27 mm.

A very attractive moth, with orange or pinkish forewings, crossed by a curious black wavy line.

It occurs in woodland habitat in the southern half of Britain, but is commonest in the southern seaboard counties.

The caterpillars feed on lichens growing on trees, including dog lichen (Peltigera canina).

Flying in July and August, the adults are attracted to light.
