Strange Wave Idaea laevigata

(Scopoli, 1763)

Wingspan c. 20mm.

This species has only ever been found in Britain as an accidental import. In 1927, larvae were found amongst coconut fibre and reared to adulthood.

Abroad, it occurs in central and southern Europe, where it flies in two generations, in June/July and again in September.

In its native habitat the larvae feed on dry plant material.
