Eucosma rubescana
(Constant, 1895)
[Synonyms: catoptrana]Wingspan c.16-20mm.
Occurring locally in saltmarsh habitats in the south-east of England, this species often occupies the same areas (and foodplant) as E. tripoliana, but is generally more reddish or tawny in colour, and has less distinct markings than that species.
The foodplant is sea aster, (Aster tripolium), the larvae feeding in spun flowers.
Adults are on the wing in June and July.
