Wingspan c. 8-10mm.

Occupying woodland rides and clearings, this species is distributed over much of England, although is scarce or absent elsewhere.

The larvae feed on various sedges (Carex spp.) or grasses (Poaceae), creating a narrow gallery, before moving to another blade, where it creates a second, broader mine.

Adults are on the wing in two generations, from April to July and again in August.
