Wingspan c.14 mm.

Frequenting deciduous woodland, this species is generally common in the southern half of Britain, becoming less common further north.

The larvae feed on oak (Quercus) and beech (Fagus), and the adult moth can sometimes be found resting on the upper surface of a leaf during the day.

The moth flies in May and June in the evening and later into the night.
