Anania perlucidalis

(Hübner, [1809])

Wingspan 21-23mm.

A local species, occurring in a range of fenland and coastal locations mostly in the south and south-east of England.

It was first found in Britain in 1957 in a Huntingdonshire fen, but has been expanding its range and becoming more common in recent years.

The life history is incompletely known but it is thought to feed on various thistles (Cirsium and Carduus).

The adults are found on the wing during June and July.
