Aleimma loeflingiana

(Linnaeus, 1758)

Wingspan 14-19 mm.

Primarily a woodland species, this moth can be found throughout most of Britain, though less commonly in the north.

The darker markings on the forewings can be somewhat variable, but are usually fairly diagnostic of the species.

It flies during July and August, from dusk into the night, and the larvae feed mainly on oak (Quercus).
