Cistus Forester Adscita geryon

(Hübner, [1813])

Wingspan 20-25 mm.

This local species is found mainly on limestone outcrops and chalky habitats, and like its close relative, The Forester, flies in sunshine.

It is on the wing during June and July, and occurs mainly in the south, but there are scattered colonies further north in such places as Cumbria and North Wales.

The larvae feed on common rock-rose (Helianthemum nummularium).
