I have just had Early Grey in my trap. This would appear to be 4-6 weeks earlier than expected. Is this unusual or normal in mild winters?

Fantastic site well done. Now I know exactly what moth Maurice is that has been frightening me at work for 3 months. I have never seen such a big moth in my life !!!

I find myself nodding in quiet approval of your site - and I am known for being picky! The design, usability, information content, photographic quality and performance (OK, I have a cable connection) are exemplary. Very well done!
Dave Owen - 19 January 2003

Hi..... I was just browsing through looking for a certain moth and this site popped up, I now live in apache junction arizona but i am originally from birmingham (brummie) uk, I was over in brum this new year (2003) and the conversation came up from my elder sister about a big gray moth that used to fly around our lights in our house, We do not know the name of the moth but as kids we used to call them (wait for it) bobhowler or bobowler? not too sure of the spelling, Maybe, just maybe, someone out there can shed some light on the subject, (its driving me nuts trying to find out its real name) I have not looked through this site entirely but i am about to, Take care philip palmer.apache junction arizona usa.

Found this site due to article in Butterfly Conservation News Winter 2003. Very nice layout and clear pictures. I will definitely re-visit to try and identify those mystery ones I capture on digital stills in the garden. Well Done!

I've just visited for the first time after seeing the reference in the Butterfly Conservation News. It'll be very useful for future moth identification, and its the first web site I've found on moths that is really well laid out. Thank you.

I have just been introduced to this site by an old colleague, and I have found it most informative and enjoyable, particulary the photographs of cryptic coloured species such as early moth, spring usher and pale brindled beauty. I will most definately be re-visiting this site.

What a wonderful website! I have just discovered it. Amazing.
Returning to entomology after many, many years this will be very helpful -especially as I intend to record and not collect specimens. Now I must get a camera!
